St George’s Hospital: FGM Awareness Event

On International Women’s Day, WHAN was invited by St George’s Hospital to present on the impact of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and trauma on survivors.

The event brought together clinicians, advocates, and frontline professionals to discuss the lasting physical and emotional effects of FGM and the importance of sensitive, trauma-informed care. Our presentation highlighted the voices of survivors and the need for continued collaboration between healthcare providers and community organisations to ensure access to safe, compassionate support.

It was an honour to contribute to such a meaningful conversation — one that reinforces WHAN’s commitment to raising awareness, improving understanding, and driving change for women and girls affected by FGM worldwide.
